Obtaining and Installing a License Before Installing KAE

Question

Do I need to install a license before installing KAE? If so, how to obtain the license?

Answer

Before installing KAE, you need to install a license. The OS can identify KAE devices only after the license is installed successfully. For details about how to apply for a license, see Huawei Server iBMC License User Guide.

KAE license classification:

iBMC V316 and later use license files to control version functions.

A license file is an authorization file generated using a dedicated encryption tool based on the contract signed by you and Huawei as well as the server information. After obtaining the license file, load it to the iBMC system and activate the permission to use the iBMC system.

Currently, iBMC supports three types of licenses.
