Environment Setup

Check whether the current processor supports Scalable Vector Extension (SVE). The x265 encoding library needs to be optimized using SVE. This section provides recommended BIOS settings for SMMU, Performance, and Prefetching. Complete these recommended BIOS settings to better use x265.

Environment Check

  1. Log in to the server and run the following command to view the CPU information:
    lscpu
  1. View the Flags information. As shown in the following figure, svef64mm indicates that the processor supports SVE and the x265 encoding library can be used.

Configuring the BIOS

Complete the recommended BIOS settings to better use x265.

  1. Enter BIOS Setup and press F9 to restore default settings.
  2. Configure the SMMU option.

    Choose Advanced > MISC Configuration and set Support Smmu to Enabled.

  1. Configure the Performance option.

    Press Esc to return to the main BIOS Setup screen. Choose Advanced > Power And Performance Configuration and set Power Policy to Performance.

  1. Configure the Prefetching option.

    Press Esc to return to the main BIOS Setup screen. Choose Advanced > Power And Performance Configuration > CPU PM Control and set CPU Prefetching Configuration to Enabled.
