Tuning TPC-DS SQL

Purpose

In TPC-DS SQL tests, the performance gap between the Kunpeng and x86 platforms is minimal in certain scenarios (for example, small data volumes). It is essential to fully unleash the performance potential of the Kunpeng platform through proper hardware/software configuration and parameter tuning. Especially during large scale data processing, improving CPU utilization and computing efficiency will demonstrate Kunpeng platform's advantages in end-to-end performance.

Procedure

1. Validate hardware environment configuration. Ensure that the hardware environment is properly configured and deployed based on actual requirements (for example, RAID controller cache policies, network interface settings, and block device configurations).
2. Properly set the foundational configurations for the client and Web services to ensure that SQL requests are efficiently submitted and results are returned promptly, avoiding performance bottlenecks caused by improper configuration.
3. Calculate executor parameters tailored to the Kunpeng platform through theoretical analysis to maximize CPU utilization and task execution efficiency.
