Overview

This document supplements the SDS Global Cache Feature Guide (referred to as the Feature Guide). It describes how to simplify software compilation, Global Cache installation, and Global Cache server and client deployment. You can use the provided scripts to complete semi-automatic software compilation and install and deploy software on the server and client nodes. If an unexpected error occurs in the software compilation script, you are advised to rectify the fault according to the user guide. If the fault persists, you are advised to perform compilation in an OS without any applications.

The procedure for compiling and deploying Global Cache semi-automatically consists of the following steps, which are performed on the compilation server, server node, and client node, respectively.

  1. After the compilation is complete on the compilation server, copy the corresponding files to the server node and client node.
  2. Perform installation and deployment on the server node.
  3. Perform installation and deployment on the client node.

To simplify the installation procedure, three types of scripts are provided to encapsulate common functions. After placing software packages in specified directories (which can be checked by using the check function) and preparing the environment, you can build compilation or installation scripts as required.

This installation and deployment guide involves only Global Cache. You need to manually install or uninstall Ceph.
