SmartKit Operations

This section describes how to install SmartKit and use it for batch distribution.

Installing SmartKit

  1. Download and install SmartKit. The software package is SmartKit_22.0.0.10.zip.

After obtaining the software package, verify that it is consistent with that provided on the website. Decompress the software package and double-click the installation file to install SmartKit.

    Check the software package integrity.

    1. Obtain the digital certificate and software.
    2. Obtain the verification tool and method from the following link:

      https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/tool/pgp-verify-TL1000000054

    3. Verify the package integrity by following the procedure described in the OpenPGP Signature Verification Guide obtained from the URL.
  2. Start SmartKit.

The following figure shows the home page of SmartKit.

  3. Import the IP address of the server.
    1. Click Add Device.

    2. Choose Devices > Server > OS > Get Template File to obtain the Excel template.

    3. Enter the start IP address, end IP address, user name, and password of all nodes in the cluster in the obtained template.

    4. Click Batch Import to import the Excel template to SmartKit.

Using the Batch Distribution Function of SmartKit

  1. On the SmartKit home page, choose Server > Upgrade/Patch Installation > Batch Distribution. Then click Batch Distribution.

    • If you use batch distribution for the first time, the system displays a message indicating that the function is unavailable and asking you whether to install the function online. Click OK.
    • This is for reference only. Select the installation node based on your service requirements.
  2. Choose Device Selection > OS, select the IP addresses of the nodes to be installed, and click OK.

  3. Click Batch Distribution. The page for batch distribution is displayed.

  4. Select one or more nodes and configure a service flow.
  5. Click Configure Service, select Custom, and click Next.

  6. Select Command Execution or File Transfer, add a task, and click Save.

  7. Export the service flow and save it to your local PC. You can import this service flow to quickly install the corresponding component.
    1. Click Export in the upper right corner. A dialog box is displayed for you to select a path for saving the template.

    2. Rename the template and click Save.
  8. Execute the service flow.

Click Finish in the lower right corner and then click Run Service to execute the service flow.

  • If the execution of a service flow fails, you can click Export Report in the Batch Distribution window to view the detailed execution process.
  • A service flow consists of a series of operations. You can add, delete, move up, move down, import, and export a service flow.
  • There are two types of operations: file transfer and command execution. Files can be transferred from a local host to a remote host or the other way around. After a service flow is configured, you can export the service flow and then import previously exported service flows to avoid repeated configuration.
