QEMU Errors Logged upon VM Startup Failure
Symptom
In an environment where a server powered by the new Kunpeng 920 processor model runs openEuler 22.03 LTS SP4 and QEMU 6.2.0, VM startup may occasionally fail. When a startup failure occurs, QEMU generates the following error logs:
- qemu-kvm: failed to create scratch VCPU with SVE enabled

- qemu-kvm: Failed to retrieve host CPU features

Key Process and Cause Analysis
When QEMU issues an ioctl to KVM for vCPU creation, the creation may occasionally fail, thereby triggering a QEMU abort and resulting in VM startup failure. The creation of cVMs inherits this open-source process. Therefore, the startup of cVMs is affected by this problem.

Conclusion, Solution, and Benefits
Try restarting the cVM until it starts successfully.
