Creating a VM Image

  1. Create a VM image. For details, see KVM Installation Guide.
  2. Modify the VM configuration file.

A total of 16 VMs (4 vCPUs and 2 GB memory) need to be created, eight on each host. For details, see Running and Verifying XPF in the OVS Flow Table Normalization Feature Guide.

Given that there are multiple VMs, pay attention to the VM core binding and huge page configuration. Modify the VM configuration file based on the huge page configuration. For example:

  • Do not bind overlapping CPU cores to VMs. It is recommended that CPUs be isolated from the OS. For details, see Running and Verifying XPF in the OVS Flow Table Normalization Feature Guide.
  • Bind huge pages and VM on the same NUMA node.
  • Ensure that the VM huge page, OVS huge page, and NIC are on the same NUMA node.
