Overview

JBoss is an open-source enterprise-level Java middleware that implements enterprise applications and services based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) and supports open-source application servers based on the Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE). The JBoss source code complies with the Lesser General Public License (LGPL). JBoss is a container and server that manages the Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 1.1, 2.0, and 3. However, the JBoss core service does not include the web container that supports Servlet or JSP. Generally, the JBoss core service is bound to Tomcat or Jetty.
