Network Traffic Exceptions

Symptom

When the network traffic between the engine server and engine client exceeds the preset threshold, the engine reports a network traffic exception event (VMI_ENGINE_EVENT_TRAFFIC_ABNORMAL). A related message (the content depends on the ISV's implementation) is displayed on the GUI.

Impact on the System

When this fault occurs, the engine client cannot work properly. Severe overheating, frame freezing, or drawing errors may occur, which affects user experience. After reporting a VMI_ENGINE_EVENT_TRAFFIC_ABNORMAL event, the engine client exits.

When this fault occurs, the engine server is disconnected from the client and switches from the online state to the offline state. In the offline state, apps in the cloud phone still run. However, in this case, touch input of the engine client cannot be received, and audio/drawing instructions of apps cannot be transmitted to the engine client.

Possible Cause

The communication traffic between the engine server and engine client is abnormal. Possible causes are as follows:

  • Some processes in the cloud phone (engine server) are abnormal or attacked, and the number of drawing instructions sent to the engine exceeds the threshold.
  • The network link between the mobile phone (engine client) and cloud phone (engine server) is attacked, and traffic exceeding the threshold is injected.

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the mobile phone from the cloud phone.
  2. Restart the cloud phone through the user management system provided by the ISV.
  3. Reconnect the mobile phone to the cloud phone. The service recovers.
