Opportunities and Challenges of Kunpeng Native Development
The Kunpeng computing industry welcomes innovations in computing architectures and open-source fundamental software to advance the Kunpeng ecosystem. Huawei has planned strategic, long-term investment in incubating cutting-edge technologies across the full stack and building a global open source system and complete industry standards for diversified computing. Huawei adheres to the strategy of "open hardware, open source software, partner enablement, and talent development" to advance the Kunpeng computing industry.
The hardware and software collaborative innovation of Kunpeng has covered core scenarios of public utilities. Major partners have migrated their mission-critical applications to Kunpeng and the Kunpeng ecosystem is undergoing quick development. In the current phase, parallel development of Kunpeng and x86 platform versions has become a major requirement. If Kunpeng and x86 each have their own independent pipeline and codebase, developers will face significant challenges due to redundant development and verification tasks, leading to inefficiencies in development, build, and maintenance. Kunpeng proposes the native development concept, that is, developers utilize Kunpeng hardware, openEuler, Kunpeng DevKit, and Kunpeng BoostKit to enable efficient cross-platform development with a single codebase and pipeline. This approach allows partners to quickly release their initial cutting-edge commercial versions and continuously update them.
